Home Sweet Home: Blessing & Cleansing for Beginners

by Angela

Whether you’re moving into a new apartment, or making an old house feel more like home, ritual blessings are perfect for any time of year, for any environment. It is easy to forget that our homes need cleansing as much as our bodies do. Without proper cleansing, our homes can collect stagnant and negative energy. This article offers simple tools and tips for blessing and cleansing your living environment. You may add your own affirmations or spiritual tools for more specific needs, or intense situations (such as hauntings, or spell-breaking).

Best times for home blessing

  • Moving into a new home
  • Starting a new relationship (marriage or partnership)
  • Welcoming a newborn or child
  • Beginning a new year or significant lifestyle change

Tip: The New Moon provides bountiful energy for new beginnings

Best times for home cleansing

  • After arguments or other negative home disruptions
  • On the New Moon of each month
  • Selling or buying a home
  • Job hunting
  • Looking for a romantic partnership
  • Improving family relationships
  • Releasing negative energies or entities

Spiritual Tools for Home Blessing & Cleansing

  • White Sage: Use to “smudge” away all unwanted energies and influences from your space. Burn in all rooms of the home when blessing or cleansing

Home Blessing

  • Purple & Orange candles: Burn together for success in all endeavors, balance, new beginnings, and stress-free transitions
  • Green Quartz: Promotes love & compassion, calms anger and other intense emotions, helps balance and harmonize the home environment. Place where needed (corners of each room is recommended)
  • Cinnamon, Apple, & Orange: Bless candles with these 3 fragrance oils before burning, or burn them in an aroma diffuser for peace, warmth, and renewal

Home Cleansing

  • White candles: For purification & cleansing, assists in communication with Archangel Michael
  • Clear Quartz: Transmutes negative energy into positive vibrations, promotes balance and harmony in the home, helps clear the home environment of negative influences
  • Sage, Lemon, & Frankincense: Bless candles with these 3 oils before burning, or burn them in an aroma diffuser for purification, serenity, and positive energy

Tip: Call on Archangel Michael to protect your home environment from all unwanted negative energies and influences after each blessing or cleansing.

Thank you, Angela, for the user-friendly directions you have supplied everyone with. I purchased a book from EL about smudgings and blessings. I purchased the oils for what I required. I will check with EL to see if you carry what I don’t have. Which I’m sure you do. You have pretty good selection to choose from. Thanks, again.

I’m wondering if all of the same items should be used if one wants to bless/cleanse a workplace. I’ve smudged our office in the past (with sage and sweetgrass) and plan to do so again this month. I just wondered if any different/additional items (than those mentioned in Angela’s article) should be used for a workplace than for a home.
